Again, a little late on the demo front. Andy, and Damon have already posted their impressions on the DiRT demo, and now I will follow suit (albeit briefly). Colin MacRae DiRT, to use the full name, is a (mostly) off road racing game coming to the 360. It's a more realistic style racing game, though not so much as the Forza games. You still have to take your turns fairly carefully, but it is a good deal more forgiving. The very first thing that stood out to me, which is something I don't usually give a hoot about, is the game menu. Everything looks really slick, sounds nice, and has a real interesting loading screen. When you do you get into the race, it's the graphics that really impress. It's all nicely detailed, the lighting effects are superb, and they even have such subtle yet cool additions like the ability to make a large dents in the guardrails (yeah, so I'm not the best driver).
All in all, I think the demo is worth a download. I definitely had some fun with it, even though it's not entirely my kind of game. If you just want to bath in it's beauty, and see the slick menus without the download, I've posted the following video for you viewing pleasure.

The menus were pretty impressive. For people with the Wireless Racing Wheel I read that you can use the DiRT demo to adjust it and then the changes carry over to the Forza 2 Demo (which doesn't allow adjusting the racing wheel in the demo).
Menu interface is nice... reminds me of some slick Flash websites. The game looks pretty fun too. Wish I could get the demo; I've been having issues.
Is there a cockpit view (with hands and steering wheel)?
I hadn't tried out the different views as of posting, but I decided I'd give them a spin. There are six different views in total, with two different cockpit views. There are also two different third person views, as well as a standard first person view and one showing the hood of the car.
The cockpit views are actually quite realistic. I crashed headlong into a guardrail (as I tend to do), and the windshield got all cracked up.
